Owerri, Imo State – A heartbreaking incident has sparked outrage in Owerri in Nigeria after a 13-year-old Junior Secondary School (JSS 1) student was allegedly shot and killed while trying to retrieve his ball.

According to reports circulating on social media, the young boy had jumped over a fence to get his ball when the property owner, who also runs a primary school, allegedly opened fire on him.

Despite the boy pleading for mercy, the shooter refused to spare him. The victim was rushed to the hospital on Monday but, tragically, succumbed to his injuries.

The shocking incident has led to an uproar in the community, with the boy’s schoolmates and other aggrieved individuals reportedly vandalizing the suspect’s school in a bid to seek justice.

Authorities have yet to release an official statement on the matter, but calls for justice continue to grow, with many demanding that the alleged perpetrator be held accountable.
