The long-standing disputes surrounding the burial of Ghanaian highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, appear to have been resolved following a meeting at Manhyia Palace with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Tensions arose when one of the late musician’s sisters publicly rejected the initially proposed December 6, 2025 funeral date, citing unresolved questions and inconsistencies related to her brother’s death. She had raised serious concerns about conflicting accounts of the circumstances surrounding the passing, pointing to multiple reports that contradicted each other and deepened suspicions about what actually happened.
The funeral planning process was also a major source of contention. The family head had formed a funeral committee without consulting all key members, leading to accusations of a lack of transparency and attempts to rush the arrangements. Disputes over widowhood rites between Daddy Lumba’s wives and family elders further complicated preparations.
Additional tension arose from restrictions placed on family members regarding access to the late musician’s body. Allegations surfaced that an autopsy was conducted without family consent, and certain body parts, including the intestines, were reportedly discarded, which the family viewed as highly disrespectful and suspicious.
The intervention by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II ultimately facilitated reconciliation, allowing the family to settle their differences and move forward with the funeral plans. The resolution brings a measure of closure to a highly publicized and sensitive dispute, ensuring that the final rites for the highlife legend can proceed with the family united.
