Accra Hearts of Oak’s goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare, earned widespread acclaim for his exceptional performance in Ghana’s 1-0 friendly defeat to South Korea on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

Despite the Black Stars losing narrowly, Asare’s heroics in goal prevented a heavier defeat. His reflexes and composure were on full display, including a stunning fingertip save that sent a tricky ball over the crossbar and multiple stops that denied Korean attackers.

One of his most notable contributions came in the 74th minute, when he kept Ghana in the game by saving a penalty from Hwang Hee-Chan, thwarting the chance for South Korea to double their lead.

Social media erupted with praise, with fans commending Asare for silencing doubts about his ability. Many now view him as a crucial figure for Ghana’s squad, particularly in the build-up to the 2026 World Cup, arguing that his recent display proves he can perform at the highest level.
