Ghanaian music sensation Black Sherif has lifted the curtain on the creative process behind his track ‘Top of the Morning’, calling it some of the most authentic music he has ever produced.
During a conversation with MC and hype man Kojo Manuel on YFM, the rapper recounted that the song emerged spontaneously while he was in New York in September 2023. After finishing a late-night studio session, he returned to his hotel room, set up his Bluetooth speaker, and began listening to beats. It was in that quiet moment that the opening line “decision I made in my pyjamas” popped into his mind.
From there, Black Sherif began painting a picture of his mornings at that time, reflecting on his routines and the conversations he frequently had with his father. The lyrics unfolded naturally as he translated those feelings into music.
The artist shared that revisiting the song now immediately transports him back to that hotel room, capturing the emotions he felt as the track came together.
‘Top of the Morning’ is featured among 15 tracks on Black Sherif’s latest album, ‘Iron Boy’, which has already been generating significant buzz across music platforms worldwide.
