Pastor Jimmy Odukoya, the Senior Pastor of the Fountain of Life Church, recently shared a compelling and deeply personal revelation about why he continues to wear dreadlocks, despite knowing that it might raise eyebrows.
According to Pastor Odukoya, the decision to keep his long hair wasn’t just about personal preference—it was a divine command, one that carried a much larger purpose.
In a heartfelt sermon, Pastor Odukoya revealed that after the passing of his father, he sought God’s guidance about his appearance, specifically whether he should cut his hair.
“I prayed about it, and the Lord made it clear to me that I should not cut my hair,” he explained. His sister even joined him in prayer, only to receive the same message.
However, the true significance of his hair came to light years later.
In 2016, while Pastor Odukoya’s hair was still short, a woman from Zimbabwe had a vision while in New York.
She saw a man with dreadlocks—Pastor Odukoya—speaking to her and giving her important instructions.
In 2025, when she arrived in Nigeria, she was astounded to see the very same man she had envisioned, now with dreadlocks, fulfilling the purpose she had seen years ago.
Pastor Odukoya recalled, “What struck me was that I didn’t even have long hair when she had the vision. But God had already planned everything, and it was clear that the woman was meant to see me exactly as I was in 2025.”
For him, this experience confirmed that his dreadlocks were not merely a fashion choice but a symbolic act of divine preparation.
“If I had cut my hair, she might not have recognized me,” he noted. “God made sure I kept it for a reason—to be the person she needed to see at the right time.”
Through this revelation, Pastor Odukoya’s hair became more than just an outward symbol; it became a reminder of the deeper spiritual journey he was on, one that reached far beyond his own understanding and touched the lives of others in ways he could never have anticipated.
