The new Ghana Card fees will take effect from February 2, 2026
The National Identification Authority (NIA) has published the new list of approved fees for its services, following an earlier report of an upward adjustment of the prices of its services.
In a statement issued on Monday, January 26, 2026, the NIA said that the new fees, which have been approved by Parliament, will take effect from Monday, February 2, 2026, and will cover charges for Ghana Card registration and other services it renders.
The authority explained that the new fees have become necessary because “key cost drivers of the National Identification System, including technology licensing, cybersecurity services, utilities, logistics, and personnel, remain elevated and are largely non-reversible.”
The new fees include a charge of GH¢30 for first-time registration of persons above the age of 25 years at NIA district offices.
Card replacement at NIA district offices will now cost GH¢200, while “record update with replacement of card” also costs GH¢200.
For issuance of cards for foreigners, first-time registration now costs US$120; annual renewal of card costs US$78; and replacement costs US$78.
