As the NPP awaits the findings of the Prof. Ocquaye report analyzing the party’s defeat in the 2024 general elections, key members have begun sharing their perspectives on the party’s shortcomings and the way forward.
Former Dome Kwabenya MP, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, weighed in on the discussion during an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen, where she reiterated her support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the right candidate for the NPP.
She dismissed suggestions that he was responsible for the party’s loss, insisting that his leadership remains a strong choice.
She pointed to the neglect of the NPP’s base in the Ashanti Region, particularly the lack of attention to road infrastructure, as a major factor in the party’s poor performance.
According to her, this lapse allowed the opposition NDC to make inroads, securing four parliamentary seats in the region.
With the party now focusing on rebuilding, Adwoa Safo’s remarks highlight the need for internal reflection and strategic planning to strengthen the NPP’s support base ahead of future elections.
