Ghanaian gospel artist Perez Music recently shared a deeply personal story about a painful heartbreak that ultimately became a defining moment in his life.
Known for his gospel hit “Hewale Lala,” Perez opened up in an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, revealing how this emotional setback changed his path.
Perez explained that the heartbreak was particularly painful because it involved someone he trusted within the entertainment industry.
He recounted the story, saying, “It all started with a heartbreak. A close friend of mine, someone I respected and worked with, betrayed me by hitting on my girlfriend.”
According to Perez, the betrayal happened when his girlfriend visited him at his office. He explained that his friend secretly took her phone number while Perez wasn’t looking.
They began talking behind his back, but Perez didn’t discover the deception right away.
The revelation came during an ordinary day when Perez and his friend were out together.
His friend handed him his phone to make a call, and as he was about to do so, he noticed his girlfriend’s display picture pop up on the phone screen.
The shock of that moment left him speechless.
“I saw her display picture, and I didn’t even say anything,” Perez recalled.
“I just handed him the phone and quietly went home.”
Though the betrayal cut deep, Perez reflected on how this painful chapter became a turning point for him.
Rather than let the heartbreak define him negatively, it fueled his spiritual and musical journey, allowing him to channel his emotions into his music.
Perez shared that this experience brought him closer to God, helping him focus on his gospel music career.
The heartbreak, while devastating, served as a catalyst for his growth as both an artist and a person, pushing him to create music that resonates with listeners on a deeper level.
His story highlights how personal struggles can sometimes lead to powerful transformations, both spiritually and creatively.
