Ghanaian Highlife star, Kwabena Kwabena, recently voiced his dissatisfaction with the government under President Nana Akufo-Addo.
In a conversation with Abeiku Santana on Okay FM, the musician, once a vocal supporter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), expressed his concerns about the current administration’s handling of crucial issues, particularly illegal mining, commonly referred to as galamsey.
Kwabena Kwabena, who campaigned for the NPP during past elections, did not shy away from criticizing the president’s failure to address the galamsey problem as promised.
He specifically highlighted the worsening situation of the country’s water bodies, which are being severely impacted by illegal mining.
According to the musician, it’s disheartening that the president has not issued any strong statements on the matter, despite earlier pledges to tackle the issue.
The musician recalled Nana Akufo-Addo’s declaration to put his presidency on the line to combat illegal mining, noting that the situation would have received far more attention had it occurred in a European nation.
This candid assessment of the government’s performance is not new from Kwabena Kwabena, who has spoken out about his discontent in several other interviews as well.
