Mr. Asiamah spoke to journalists shortly after the court delivered its decision, expressing overwhelming happiness and describing the outcome as a huge comfort to their family.

“I am the happiest man on earth,” in a video shared by Citinews, Asiamah said in Twi.

The court reviewed Nana Agradaa’s punishment and reduced her sentence to 12 calendar months, overturning the 15-year custodial term with hard labour earlier handed down by the trial court, which it ruled was harsh and excessive.

Although the High Court upheld her conviction, it exercised its authority to revise the punishment, determining that the earlier sentence did not align with the circumstances surrounding the case.

The revised jail term will be calculated from July 3, 2025, the date she was convicted. This means the controversial evangelist is expected to serve one year in prison.

In its reasoning, the court noted that while the offence justified a custodial sentence, fairness required that the punishment reflect proportionality, prompting the decision to reduce the term.

Nana Agradaa’s legal troubles have remained a subject of public discussion, largely due to her widely publicised transition from traditional priesthood to Christian evangelism and her continued prominence in public discourse.

Following the latest ruling, her conviction still stands, but the period she is expected to remain incarcerated has been drastically reduced.
