Nigerian televangelist and founder of Streams of Joy International, Pastor Jerry Eze, has revealed the reason behind his emotional prayer sessions.
Speaking during an interview to mark the fifth anniversary of the New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations (NSPPD), Pastor Eze explained that his deep sense of compassion is what moves him to tears when he prays.
He noted that entering ministry made him realize that compassion is a key element in unlocking miracles. According to him, he constantly receives messages from people facing overwhelming struggles, and their pain deeply affects him.
Citing scripture, he referenced the Bible’s description of Christ as a high priest who empathizes with human suffering. He emphasized that witnessing heartbreaking situations daily reinforces his emotional connection to those seeking divine intervention.
Giving an example, he recalled encountering a woman who endured the tragic loss of three husbands in succession, a situation that made interceding for her even more emotional.
For Pastor Eze, his tears during prayers are not just emotions but a reflection of the burden he carries for those seeking hope and miracles.
“The Bible says we do not have a high priest who can not be touched with the feelings of our authorities and the Bible says he was made like one of them that he might become a faithful and merciful high priest.
“Well, I’ve always known myself to be a very compassionate person and then coming into ministry and I realized that compassion is an inevitable tool for the miraculous every day I am greeted with all kinds of messages you are seeing in all kinds of situations.
“Let me give you an example so how do you make this kind of prayer how you see a woman who has who lost her husband try to remarry loses the second one and after everything try to get married a third time lose the third,” he explained during an interview to mark NSPPD’s fifth anniversary.
