Showboy stated that earning money legally is more valuable than any flashy lifestyle

Popular Ghanaian musician and socialite Samuel Safo, widely known as Showboy, has taken to social media to caution the youth against engaging in illegal activities that could threaten their freedom and future.

In a heartfelt post on January 11, 2026, Showboy reflected on his journey following his release and deportation from the United States, where he served time in prison.

The entertainer described his decision to stop fighting immigration authorities and return to Ghana as one of the “scariest decisions” of his life, noting that it ultimately restored his freedom and peace of mind.

“Coming out of prison with no hopes to shine, all I had was myself and the confidence in me. Making a decision not to fight immigration and saying, ‘F America, I’m coming back home; I’m tired of slavery,’ is one of the scariest decisions to ever make …. ALLAH HAS NOT SHAMED ME,” he posted.

He urged young people to reject illegal pursuits that could jeopardise their lives and liberty.

“The cars, the flex, the women, and the lifestyle are all extra if you’re not free to witness it grow!!! Say no to anything illegal that’s going to cost your life,” he concluded.

Showboy’s comments come after his 2019 sentencing in the US, where he served six years of a 15-year term for allegedly stabbing his acquaintance, Junior US.
