Often, the public assumes that the wealth of politicians come solely from public service or through questionable means, overlooking the private ventures many maintain outside politics, which they often keep out of the public eye.

This misconception has frequently led to public criticisms and stereotyping, similar to what has prompted the Nhyiaeso Member of Parliament, Stephen Amoah, to speak out against social media scrutiny.

Using himself as an example, he highlighted his extensive business and professional activities as evidence of his commitment and hard work.

In a video interview on GHOne TV and shared on X on January 9, 2026, Amoah, who is over 50 years old, described how busy his schedules are.

According to him, he owns several businesses aside from his political service, including consulting and the sale of commercial buses, among other ventures.

“I have money. I work hard, I don’t brag. [I do] plenty of things. I’m an entrepreneur, consultant, I sell 207 [buses]. My office is in Labone, and I just moved.

“I do small construction, and have a football club; I run a pharmacy shop. I work hard. I don’t sleep… I’m very playful… I don’t even have friends I move around with,” he said.

The MP also emphasised his dedication to academics and personal development, urging the public to refrain from making derogatory comments about others online.

“I’m a serious person. I’m over 50 years. I have a PhD and doing law. I don’t rest,” he disclosed. “People should stop tagging and insulting other people,” he added.
