I Lost 4 Family Members in 2 Months—It Broke Me
Canadian-based Nollywood actress Deborah Ewedafe has opened up about the heartbreaking losses that led her to step away from acting.
In an interview with Kunleafod TV, she shared that she halted her acting career after experiencing an overwhelming personal tragedy in 2024.
Within just two months, she lost four close family members, a devastating period that forced her to put her professional plans on hold.
Ewedafe revealed that she had been preparing to take a group of actors to Canada for the second season of a movie project she had started two years earlier. However, the sudden deaths of her niece, brother, cousin, and father-in-law changed everything.
She specifically mentioned her niece, whom she had raised since childhood, making the loss even more painful.
Reflecting on the difficult year, the actress acknowledged the immense emotional toll but expressed gratitude for the lessons she learned from the experience. Despite the setback, she remains hopeful about the future.
“I was planning to take some actors to Canada for the continuation of season two of one of my movies that I started two years ago. I stopped acting in movies when I lost 4 members of my family in just 2 months.”
“I lost my niece, whom I started training from the age of 2, and she died at the age of 31. I lost my brother, my cousin, and my father-in-law. The year 2024 was a difficult year for me, but I thank God because I learnt a lot from those incidents.”
