‘I Never Dated Maadwoa’ – Inspector Twumasi Insists in Court

Police Inspector Ahmed Twumasi was back in court on Thursday, March 14, where he faced intense questioning over his relationship with the late Maadwoa.

Despite widespread speculation, he maintained that their relationship was purely platonic and denied ever being romantically involved with her.

During cross-examination, Twumasi was confronted with claims that he had given Maadwoa gifts.

He initially denied ever giving her anything but later admitted to giving her GH¢27,000. However, he insisted it was a loan and not a gift, contradicting his earlier statement.

The proceedings became tense when Twumasi objected to being called “Taakum” by Maadwoa’s lawyer, insisting that it was not his real name and demanding that the lawyer stop using it.

The defence lawyer challenged Twumasi on multiple fronts, including the claim that investigators found the pistol used in the shooting at his residence.

Twumasi stood by his statement, saying he was under duress when he gave it, adding that he had been beaten while in custody.

He also denied accusations that he was angry over Maadwoa’s alleged refusal to repay the money, refuting suggestions that his frustration over the unpaid loan led him to kill her.

The lawyer put it to him that he shot Maadwoa six times after she ended their supposed relationship, but Twumasi strongly rejected the claim, maintaining that he had nothing to do with her death.
