The Occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has affirmed his commitment to speaking truth to power.
His Majesty notes that this is a firm and unwavering conviction he holds.
“I believe in telling the truth to power, and I don’t mince my words at all. I’m always straightforward to the point in telling the truth,” Otumfuo said during a courtesy visit by Emir of Kano State in Nigeria, His Royal Highness Dr Mallam Sanusi Lamido II.
The Asantehene made these remarks while encouraging his guest, who once faced dethronement, to keep being firm in truthfulness and hold politicians accountable.
Hailing the Emir for being a leading light, the Asantehene affirmed his unflinching support for him, saying he was rightly enthroned.
“I still assure you that I will continue to be there for you. You have a heart, and you have done so much for Nigeria, and I still believe you can do so much in this position, so I will encourage you not to leave it to politicians but continue to do the best that you can…If Nigeria and Ghana prosper, we all prosper.”
The Emir visited with his delegation on December 20, 2025.
The delegation included Sheikh Abdul Wadud Haruna (National President of the Tijjaniya Muslim Movement of Ghana), Alhaji Sanusi Galadima of Kano (Chief of Staff), Alhaji Mujtaba (Sarki Yaaki of Kano and brother to the Emir), Alhaji Ashiraf Sanusi and Alhaji Aminu Sanusi (sons of the Emir and Chiroma of Kano) and Alhaji Abdul Ali (Asanteman Zongo Nkosuohene).
