I started movie production because I was always after someone's boyfriend in movies
Ghanaian actress Nadia Buari shared insights into her decision to explore movie production in addition to her acting endeavors.
During an appearance on The Afternoon Show on Wednesday, October 23, monitored by News & Vibes, she revealed that the motivation behind this transition was her desire to break away from the stereotypical ‘lover girl’ roles she frequently portrayed.
Feeling unchallenged by the scripts and characters she was offered, Nadia made a conscious choice to push herself into new territories.
She articulated that the monotony of always playing romantic leads or being entangled in love triangles had become tiresome.
As a self-professed enthusiast of thrillers and horror genres, she sought to embody more diverse and complex roles that resonated with her creative aspirations.
The urge to delve into producing movies stemmed from a deep-rooted need to showcase her versatility as an artist and explore characters that truly excited her.
Through her ventures in production, she envisioned a platform where she could bring to life the multifaceted roles that had long captivated her imagination.
With four successful movies already under her belt, Nadia’s journey as a producer continues to evolve, allowing her to carve a niche in the industry that authentically reflects her artistic vision and narrative sensibilities.
“I got into movie producing because I felt I wasn’t challenged enough. I felt the scripts I received and the roles I played were not challenging enough. I am a thriller and horror freak and every time I got a script it was either a lover girl or I was after somebody’s boyfriend and I just got tired of that. I had too many stories and I felt like if I ventured into producing my own movies, I could play the character I have always wanted to play.”
