Reggae artist Shasha Marley recently made headlines after disclosing that he declined a lucrative offer of $50,000 from a political party to compose a song for them.

In a statement, Marley revealed that he was approached by an old friend with the offer, causing him considerable excitement and sleepless nights.

However, after consulting with his wife and weighing the potential implications of delving into politics, he ultimately decided to reject the offer.

Writing music for political parties is not a recent development. Political parties use musicians to write campaign songs during election seasons in an effort to win over voters.

Even if a lot of individuals have spoken out against it, this act still happens. Diana Asamoah, a gospel singer, recently revealed that she composed a song for the New Patriotic Party’s campaign.
