Renowned Ghanaian artist Ibrahim Mahama has disclosed the motivation behind his relentless pursuit of justice over his alleged assault by some police officers.

According to him, the sole aim is to forestall a recurrence.

Addressing the press on March 26, 2026, after honouring an invitation by the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Christian Yohuno, he explained that he was not after compensation but justice.

“When things like this happen, the question is, how do we make sure that it doesn’t repeat itself. As I said before, none of us has any problem with the Ghana Police Service,” he said while highlighting his cordial relationship with the Ghana Police Service.

“It is that specific unit that assaulted us that we want to make sure that at least some kind of justice is served…We are not looking for compensation. WE are not looking for money, obviously. It is more about justice.”

For its part, the Service told the press the case had been referred to the headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for continuation of the probe.

The artist is reported to have been assaulted in Tamale on March 21 by a group linked to the IGP’s Special Operations Team.
