Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is the 2028 Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)
The 2028 Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has pledged to dedicate himself fully to the task of returning the party to power, declaring that he “will not sleep at all” in pursuit of victory.
Speaking on February 10, 2025, when NPP working groups visited him following his victory in the party’s internal elections, Dr Bawumia emphasised his determination to work around the clock for the party’s success.
“Just as you have given me confidence, I will work hard to bring the party back to power in 2028. I will not sleep; I will work tirelessly to secure victory for the party morning, afternoon, and evening,” he said.
Dr Bawumia praised the actions of the party members, noting that their efforts had strengthened the NPP and prevented opponents from exploiting certain issues ahead of the 2028 Election.

He stressed that unity would be crucial, recalling that internal divisions contributed to the party’s defeat in 2024.
“You have saved the party by your actions. This clearly indicates that they cannot use certain things against us in 2028. Your actions also give us strength. We must understand that unity among us is essential for victory.
“In 2024, we lost the elections because some of our own people did not vote for us. If we are able to bring everyone on board, we will win power,” he stated.
Dr Bawumia further called for collective support by asking the supporters to support him.
