Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has assured party faithful of his unwavering commitment to lead the party back to power in the 2028 general elections.
Dr Bawumia gave the assurance when some party delegates visited him at his private residence to express their support and confidence in his leadership, on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
“You have saved the party by your action. Because the message is gone and in 2028, they cannot use the same message against us; it will rather give us strength,” he said.
He pledged to dedicate himself fully to the party’s cause.
“I want to assure you that because you have imposed your confidence in me, I will work at all times to ensure that we win power in 2028. I will not sleep. I will work day and night to ensure that I bring the power to the NPP,” Dr Bawumia stated.
The former Vice President stressed that unity within the party would be key to electoral success, noting that the NPP had the numerical strength to defeat the National Democratic Congress (NDC) if members rallied behind a common agenda.
“When you look at the data, we have more numbers than the NDC, and so all we need is unity. In 2024, our members didn’t vote. So, if we are able to bring everybody on board, we can win,” he said.
Describing the party’s efforts as entering a new phase, Dr Bawumia called on supporters to remain committed and actively participate in the rebuilding process.
“Our task is clear. At this time, we are moving to phase two. So I want to plead with you all to assist us in this fight,” he added.
