The Ghana Police Service has launched an urgent effort to locate an officer who recently appeared in a circulating social media video claiming he had been abandoned by the administration after developing a severe leg wound from an accident. According to the Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the service is working to trace the officer’s whereabouts so he can be placed back under proper medical care.

Details from the police leadership indicate that the officer was initially admitted to the Police Hospital after the accident. His condition reportedly worsened during treatment, and specialists advised that the safest medical option was to amputate the affected leg below the knee. During discussions with the medical team, the officer and his family rejected the recommendation and chose to pursue alternative or herbal treatment elsewhere. The hospital allowed them to explore that path.

However, after leaving medical supervision, the injury deteriorated significantly. Attempts by the police to reach him and his family became difficult because the service could not reconnect with them once they pursued external treatment.

The administration now considers the situation time-sensitive and believes further delays may lead to an even more critical outcome. The IGP emphasized that the case requires proper medical intervention and warned that spiritual or herbal remedies cannot address the severity of the condition.

The search for the officer is ongoing as the police aim to re-establish contact and return him to a facility where he can receive urgent professional care.
