IGP Yohuno reshuffles senior command of Ghana Police Service

There is a major shake-up currently ongoing within the senior command of the Ghana Police Service (GPS).

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, as part of efforts to strengthen leadership and enhance the operational efficiency of the service, has effected immediate changes in the top ranks.

An official posting issued by the Police Administration announced the reassignment of several Commissioners of Police (COPs) and Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCOPs) to new roles across the Service.

Under the changes, COP Dr. Sayibu Pabi Gariba has been moved from his role as Director General/Technology to assume duties as Director General/NAPD, while COP Iddi Lansah Seidu has been reassigned from Director General/Welfare to Director General/Technology.

Additionally, COP Dr. Vance Baba Gariba has shifted from Director General/Operations to Director General/Research and Planning, with COP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe taking over as Director General/Operations after moving from the Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB).

Further changes include DCOP Darko Offei Lomotey, who has moved from Director General/Research and Planning to become Director General/PPSB, and DCOP Eric Ken Winful, who has been reassigned from Director General/NAPD to Director General/Welfare.

The reshuffle also affected several regional and technical commands. DCOP Charles K. Adu has been appointed Regional Commander of the Eastern Sector (ESR), while DCOP Isaac Asante has been moved from the Eastern Region to the National Headquarters.

Meanwhile, DCOP George B. Ohene Boadi has assumed duties as Regional Commander of the Central Region, with DCOP George Ankomah moving from Central MTTD/AR to take over as Regional Commander of the Eastern North Region (ENR).

In another reshuffle, DCOP Alex Kodjo Wowolo, formerly Director of ICT at the National Headquarters, has been appointed to head Central MTTD/AR.

According to the IGP, the postings form part of ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening leadership, enhancing operational efficiency, and improving service delivery across the Ghana Police Service.
