The Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has reiterated his willingness to address the numerous challenges confronting the Ghana Police Service with his moral authority.

Addressing the Police Management Board on January 6, 2026, during a visit to the National Police Headquarters in Accra, His Majesty said his doors were open at all times.

“I’m your father, and I’m here to tell you that we love you and appreciate you and always want to assure you that whenever you come to me for advice and direction in terms of support, I’ll be more than happy to do it, but please be on merit.”

The King explained that he lacked the political authority to resolve anything but would leverage the moral authority he wields appropriately and disproportionately to advise and give direction.

“I’m just a poor soul sitting in Kumasi. I only have moral authority. I don’t have the political authority. I have the moral authority and will use it appropriately and disproportionately.”

Meanwhile, acknowledging the government’s retooling efforts, the Asantehene encouraged the police body to live up to expectations.

The Asantehene said this while expressing his appreciation of the police body and their mandate.

“I came to encourage you. Ghana needs you. Ghana relies on you for peace. The security of Ghana internally depends on you, and therefore, we don’t take you for granted. When I should sleep, I sleep because I have some police officers appointed to me in the night and day, and they are doing a fantastic job there.”
