I'm Not a Lazy Artiste — Mophty Legacy Backs Open Verse Challenges

Ghanaian artiste Mophty Legacy has strongly defended the growing trend of open verse challenges on social media, insisting it is a legitimate path for musicians to gain recognition and build their careers.

Speaking in an interview with Mr Black on Opemsuo Radio’s Kumasefie monitored by News and Vibes, Mophty addressed critics who have suggested that he rose to fame simply by riding on the success of another artiste’s song.

He firmly rejected the idea that participating in an open verse challenge reflects laziness or lack of originality.

“Jumping on someone’s song as an artiste is not a bad thing,” Mophty emphasized.

He explained that although he had released original songs for years without much attention, his decision to contribute an open verse to Mr Drew’s hit song Case turned out to be a breakthrough moment.

Mophty Legacy noted that social media engagement around his work skyrocketed after he posted his version, far surpassing the reach of his earlier projects. However, he made it clear that his success was not accidental, pointing out that he had been putting in the hard work long before the viral moment.
