Ghanaian actress and social media influencer Efia Odo has responded to criticism from a social media user who accused her of being “brainwashed” for embracing Christianity again.
The user, who claimed to be an atheist, expressed surprise that Efia Odo had returned to her Christian roots, saying “I thought you detached from colonial brainwashing ideologies. I even thought you were atheist, like myself.”
Efia Odo replied that she was born in a Christian home and had worshiped Jesus all her life. She explained that she had briefly strayed from her faith, seeking to find God on her own terms, but ultimately felt empty and returned to Christianity.
“I’m back in Christ and no one can tell me otherwise,” she wrote. “If you think I’m brainwashed, then let me be. I don’t need to be saved.”
Efia Odo’s response has sparked a debate about faith, spirituality, and personal choice. While some have praised her for standing firm in her beliefs, others have criticized her for allegedly being “brainwashed” by religious ideologies.
The exchange highlights the ongoing conversation about the role of religion in society and the personal journeys people take in their search for meaning and spirituality.

I thought you detached from colonial brainwashing ideologies. I even thought you were atheist, like myself. I’m curious, why the sudden reverence for the things of the most high, YVHV. People are known to be more conservative as they age. Is that what has happened?
Efia Odo;
I was born in a Christian home, I worshiped Jesus all my life. Yes at one point I wanted to find God on my own and ran away from the church, I felt empty when I stopped worshipping Christ. Now I’m back in Christ and no one can tell me otherwise. If you think I’m brainwashed then let me be, I don’t need to be saved.
