Franklin Cudjo, CEO of IMANI Africa, has called for punitive measures to be taken against the bodyguards of former President John Dramani Mahama who allegedly assaulted a student leader at the Christian Service University College.
Cudjo’s call for action comes after the student, Nana Boakye, was reportedly physically assaulted by Mahama’s bodyguards for expressing his opinions during a lecture by the former President.
“The perpetrators of this heinous beating must be found and punished,” Cudjo emphasized, condemning the incident as “political violence” that must not be tolerated.
Cudjo’s demand for punitive measures has been echoed by the youth wing of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), which has also called for an unqualified apology from Mahama and his assistance in arresting the perpetrators.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage and raised concerns about the culture of political violence and intimidation in Ghana. Cudjo’s call for accountability and punitive measures reflects the growing demand for leaders to take responsibility for the actions of their supporters and security personnel.
By calling for punitive measures, Cudjo is pushing for a zero-tolerance approach to political violence and a strong message that such behavior will not be condoned in Ghana’s political landscape.
According to reports the student shouted “You are a liar, You will lose the 2024 elections” while Mahama was delivering a lecture at the university.
