IMANI Africa President, Franklin Cudjoe, has raised concerns over the manner in which former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, was dismissed from his position by President John Dramani Mahama.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s Big Issue, Cudjoe described the letter announcing Dampare’s removal as lacking empathy and professionalism.
He noted that the letter made no mention of the former IGP’s service or extended any well wishes, making it appear “cold” and impersonal.
Cudjoe drew parallels between Dampare’s dismissal and that of former Auditor-General Daniel Domelevo under President Nana Akufo-Addo.
While Domelevo’s removal was widely criticized, he pointed out that at least an explanation was provided, unlike in Dampare’s case.
He urged the new administration to adopt a more professional approach in governance, especially when making key personnel changes.
