About seven people are reported injured after some masked men reportedly stormed the Ho Central Mosque in the Volta Region on Boxing Day [Friday], amidst sporadic shooting.

The motive behind the attack by the masked men, said to be numbering about five, is unknown.

The injured are said to be part of the people who were in the area preparing for ‘Jummah’ prayers.

The incident happened around 9:30 am.

Some people have linked the attack to a protracted dispute between two factions claiming the Volta Regional Chief Imam position.

Some people are said to have been picked up by the police.
