Italian man sues surgeon and clinic over penile enlargement gone wrong

In a legal battle unfolding in Tuscany, Italy, a 40-year-old man is taking a cosmetic surgeon and two medical clinics to court, alleging severe complications from a penile enlargement procedure.

The man invested 5,000 euros (approximately $5,400) for what he hoped would be a transformative enhancement. However, just a month after the surgery, he began experiencing distressing physical symptoms, leading to impotence and erectile dysfunction.

What ensued was a series of 12 corrective surgeries, including lipofilling operations, in an attempt to rectify the damage. Despite these efforts, the desired outcome was not achieved, leaving the man with deformed and dysfunctional genitalia.

In the courtroom, the accused doctor presented videos purportedly showing the patient’s initial satisfaction with the procedure. However, the court ruled against him, emphasizing the lack of adequate information provided to the patient regarding the risks involved.

The implicated clinics claimed they merely provided facilities for the doctor’s work, but the court held them accountable, recognizing their benefit from the procedures.

Ultimately, the doctor was ordered to bear 60 percent of the compensation, while each clinic was held liable for 20 percent. Though the total compensation was set at 153,000 euros (approximately $165,700), it was reduced to around 110,000 euros due to the court’s findings attributing 30 percent of the damage to the man’s actions.
