Emerging artist Alka Youngest has revealed that he currently has no manager or record label backing his music career. In a candid statement, he expressed his uncertainty about the reasons behind this, questioning whether it is due to his talent or simply a matter of timing.
“I have not been approached by any manager or label,” Alka Youngest said. “I don’t know if it’s because I’m not good or maybe my time is not up, but I know people listen to my songs. Maybe my time is not up.”
Despite the lack of formal support, Alka Youngest remains optimistic about his future in the music industry, believing that his moment will eventually come.
He further lamented, “Being an artist in Sunyani, doing music is difficult, especially getting people to hear it. “I even thought Sunyani people don’t like dancehall because that’s what I chose—English. When you check Sunyani’s music map, we are not counted because they know we don’t do music, but we are doing it.”
The artiste further talked about why he had to remove some of his old songs from online platforms.
“I have more songs, but I take them off because sometimes when I listen to them, it feels like I’m just playing around,” Alka Youngest shared. “It got to a time when I felt I was better, so the old ones I had uploaded, I took them off. For now, there are four songs left on the internet that people can say are mine.”
