In response to the unfortunate deaths of actor Junior Pope and four others in a boat accident in Asaba, Delta state, on April 10, the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) in Nigeria has acted decisively.
An official declaration signed by Queen Blessing Ebigieson, the national president of AMP, was made public on Monday. It disclosed that Adanma Luke, the producer who was supposed to collaborate with Junior Pope on a forthcoming movie, has been suspended effective immediately.
A nine-member committee was formed and entrusted with looking into the facts surrounding the unfortunate occurrence, according to the statement.
AMP offered its sincere condolences to the families of the individuals who perished in the boat accident.
Adanma Luke has been instructed to put a stop to all work until the investigative report is submitted and AMP makes a final decision. The group stressed that at this difficult period, all sectors, stakeholders, and the general public must remain calm and cooperative.
The fact that Adanma Luke has been suspended shows how seriously AMP is taking the probe into Junior Pope’s tragic death. While the film industry laments the passing of skilled professionals, AMP is steadfast in its commitment to upholding accountability and openness in all facets of the business.
