An alumni group of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) has donated 500 buckets to the Army Peacekeeping Operations Training School at Bundase to assist with training.

A leader of the group (EMCPS 9), Abi Adatsi, presented the items on behalf of her colleagues to Staff Officer Grade One in charge of Administration and Logistics at the training school, Lt Col. Napoleon Tsatsu Avu-Tamakloe.

The donation was in fulfilment of a pledge made by the group’s benefactor alumna during a field trip to the school in December, 2025.

The field visit to the school was part of EMCPS 9’s Executive Master’s programme in conflict, peace, and security.

The EMCPS 9 was a one-year course in which 40 students went through peacekeeping training procedures to gain first-hand experience with school operations.

Rationale

Ms Adatsi explained that during a visit to the training school at Bundase, it was observed that trainees arrived at the school with their own buckets and other basic bathing and washing supplies.

She said the situation prompted her to make a commitment to help the school.

“I wanted to support to ensure that personnel are no longer required to carry such items when reporting for training,” Ms Adatsi said.

She said as part of her commitment to fulfil the pledge, she rallied 14 colleagues from the EMCPS 9 group to support the initiative.

Ms Adatsi said that the group eventually fulfilled its commitment by donating to the school, 500 large-sized buckets after completing their academic requirements in February this year.

Appreciation

Lt Col. Avu-Tamakloe thanked the group for the donation.

He explained that all three services of the Ghana Armed Forces use the school as a pre-deployment training facility; hence, the donation would be of benefit to all of them.

Lt Col. Avu-Tamakloe added that personnel were sent for peacekeeping missions after going through the tactical and practical training offered at the school.

He, however, said that the institution frequently faced logistical difficulties; hence, the donation would supplement current resources.

“This donation will go a long way to augment what we have, which we find to be inadequate,” Lt Col. Avu-Tamakloe said.
