Leading New Patriotic Party (NPP) member and 2028 presidential hopeful, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has made a significant donation to Ghana’s Muslim community in celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr.
On Monday, March 31, he distributed a total of 800 bags of rice to various Muslim communities across the country as they marked the end of Ramadan.
The donation included 336 bags of 50kg rice and 500 bags of 5kg rice, aimed at supporting families as they gathered to celebrate after a month of fasting and spiritual reflection.
Agyapong, known for his philanthropic efforts, emphasized his strong connection to the Muslim community, revealing that a large portion of his family practices Islam.
He also shared that he had recently lost a Muslim uncle but was unable to attend the funeral due to prior commitments.
This latest act of generosity follows a series of donations since Agyapong’s return to Ghana after a brief stay in the United States for legal and personal matters.
Just days before his Eid donation, he contributed GHC 100,000 along with 200 streetlights to enhance security and visibility in the Railways area and its surroundings.
Political analysts see these gestures as a strategic move by Agyapong to solidify his influence within the NPP and position himself as a strong contender for the party’s leadership ahead of the 2028 elections.
As the NPP prepares for its next battle against the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Agyapong’s outreach efforts signal his intent to remain a key player in Ghanaian politics.
