US-based Ghanaian journalist Kevin Taylor has launched a stinging rebuke against two prominent broadcasters, accusing them of deliberately misleading the public over the National Cathedral audit findings.
The journalist, in a post shared on his verified Facebook account on Saturday, July 19, 2025, expressed his dismay over comments made by Philip Osei Bonsu (widely known as OB) and Kwabena Asante (popularly called Omanhene). According to Taylor, the two radio personalities told listeners that they had reviewed an audit report which cleared those involved in the National Cathedral initiative of any wrongdoing.
Taylor challenged this narrative, stressing that despite their strong claims, the broadcasters failed to present any part of the report to support their position. Instead of focusing on the facts, he said, the two used their platforms to criticize Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who has consistently raised red flags about financial mismanagement related to the project.
Taylor expressed concern over how those pushing for transparency, like Ablakwa, are being vilified, while individuals accused of corruption are defended by media figures. He believes this dynamic is a threat to accountability in Ghana’s governance.
Following the recent release of the actual audit report by government spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Taylor stated that the truth is now evident. The report reveals that close to $100 million has been spent on the controversial project with minimal results to show for the hefty expenditure.
He concluded that the earlier statements made by OB and Omanhene have been thoroughly discredited, and their attempt to shield figures like Rev. Kusi Boateng has failed in light of the damning revelations now made public.
