Ghanaian musician Dennis Nana Dwamena, widely known as KiDi, has ignited strong reactions across social media after expressing controversial views about women and their sexual histories.
Appearing on the Rants, Bants, and Confessions podcast, KiDi shared that a woman’s “body count”—a term referring to the number of men she has slept with—matters significantly to him when choosing a romantic partner.
According to the singer, each intimate encounter affects a woman emotionally, leaving her with less of herself to give in future relationships.
He explained that, in his view, women tend to form emotional bonds through sexual intimacy. For him, this means that a woman who has had many partners may carry emotional baggage and may not be able to fully connect again.
He described such emotional detachment as a kind of spiritual wear and tear that lessens a woman’s essence over time.
KiDi further stated that he prefers a woman who hasn’t been through repeated emotional cycles with different men, suggesting he would rather be with someone he believes is more emotionally “whole.”
His comments were made while responding to questions about relationship preferences, particularly regarding public appearances with his partner.
He said he would struggle with pride if he were romantically involved with someone known to have been with many men, especially in social settings.
While KiDi emphasized that these views are his personal beliefs and not intended to be universal, many listeners and fans found his perspective problematic, with debates about double standards and gender expectations quickly dominating online platforms.
