The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has arrested a 29-year-old man for dumping refuse illegally along a principal street in Asafo.

Azuma Seidu, a resident of Asokwa, was apprehended at approximately 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 29th April 2026, near the Asafo GOIL Fuel Station, the Assembly said in a press release issued today.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Seidu had collected waste from various households for a fee before disposing of it indiscriminately.

The suspect was immediately handed over to the Zongo Police for further investigation and legal action.

He was granted police enquiry bail at about 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, 30th April 2026, and is expected to appear before court on Thursday, 7th May 2026.

The KMA strongly cautioned all residents and service providers to desist from indiscriminate dumping of waste, warning that offenders will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

“The Assembly reaffirms its commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment for all and calls on the public to support its efforts by adhering to proper waste management practices,” the statement added.

The arrest was made through routine surveillance operations by KMA’s sanitation taskforce.
