Locals are now anxious, recalling a series of unsolved killings in the Wa metropolis in previous years, some of which involved mutilation of victims. These events had left the community wary, and many fear the recent death could signal a repeat of those grim times.

The Ghana Police Service responded swiftly, removing Yahaya’s body and transporting it to the regional mortuary while launching investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Alhaji Issah Nurah Danwana, the Municipal Chief Executive of Wa, appealed to residents to remain calm. He revealed that steps are being taken to improve safety, including repairing and replacing streetlights across the town. While 70% of the existing lights have been restored, about 400 more still need attention, and the assembly has sought support from relevant stakeholders.

The MCE also called on the police to increase patrols in the area. He recalled that during the earlier spate of killings, police had set up barricades at strategic points, but most have since been removed, leaving parts of the town more vulnerable. Authorities are urging both vigilance and cooperation from the community to prevent further tragedies.
