The couple had previously spent time together in March 2025, when Gabs traveled to Romania to mark Maria’s birthday. Their plan had been for Maria to host him for his birthday in July, a visit he was looking forward to—until things took a dramatic turn.
While waiting at the airport, Gabs received a sudden call from Maria informing him that their relationship was over. She reportedly told him not to expect to find her if he continued on his journey to Romania.
Instead of allowing the breakup to derail his plans entirely, Gabs made a last-minute pivot. Leveraging his Dutch passport, which allows visa-free travel to the U.S., he quickly booked a new flight to New York City and chose to spend his birthday there instead.
