Former majority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has suggested that the incumbent MPs of the NPP should be made to go unopposed in the next general election.

The politician and staunch member of the New Patriotic Party’s comment comes following the just-ended NPP primaries, where former Vice President, Dr. Bawumia was proclaimed the flagbearer of the political party in the next general election.

Speaking with Kwame Tanko in an exclusive interview, the former majority leader noted that plans should be far advanced towards the next general election, so that, if possible, the NPP could claim power again.

In his opinion, Osei Kyei Mensah stated that the incumbent MPs on the ticket of the NPP should be made to go unopposed, stating that he believes that when such is done, the NPP could easily win the 2028 general election.

According to Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, this should be done within the year 2026, so that the NPP could emerge as the winner in the next general election.

He however stated that in constituencies where the NPP has caused dissatisfaction or the people are not interested in them because they used power to enrich themselves and kept the light under the bushel, the MPs should not be made to go unopposed.
