The Chairman of the Executive Council of the Great Commission Church International (GCCI), Apostle Joseph Felix Kwesi Mensah, has urged Christian faithful to move beyond personal issues to embrace communal love, peace-building and a commitment to serving others during challenging times.

He also called on Christians to prepare well for the second coming of Jesus Christ.

Apostle Mensah said this in a sermon to climax the GCCI Greater Accra Regional Easter Convention at Frafraha near Accra.

It was on the theme: “Living to Win, Church and Disciple”.

Launch

At the event, the 35th anniversary celebration of the church was launched by the immediate past Ghana National Council Chairman of GCCI, Apostle Professor Samuel Asuming-Brempong.

The GCCI was founded on April 1, 1991, on the campus of the University of Ghana, Legon, Accra, and has since spread to other countries such as Togo, Benin, Gabon and Cote d’Ivoire.

The founding fathers include Apostle Joseph Felix Kwesi Mensah, Apostle Professor Samuel Assuming-Brempong, Apostle Dr Joseph Kwabena Antwi and Apostle Dr Samuel Vincent Ansah.

Cornerstone

Apostle Mensah emphasised that “the resurrection of Jesus is the cornerstone of Christianity. It is what makes Jesus the only way to God.

It is the proof that Jesus is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords forever and ever.”

He quoted John 14:1-3 to buttress his point, indicating that Jesus had said He was coming again to reward each one according to his or her works and that “he is coming back soon”.

He said the first reason Jesus was coming was to judge all human beings and that the second reason was rewards, with the third being that He was coming for His bride – the church.

“When he came the first time, He used His blood to pay the bride price.

That was the engagement ceremony.

He is coming for His bride,” he said.
