Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has urged NPP delegates to elect him as the flagbearer
Former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer aspirant, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has urged delegates of the party to rally behind him to build a better party all members will be proud of.
In a post on his Facebook page, Dr Bawumia said a win for him in Saturday’s Presidential Primaries, will be a win for all members of the party, which will mark the beginning of rebuilding the party capable of winning to serve the country.
“Let’s win together on January 31, 2026, for a greater NPP for all, which will win and be of immense service to Ghana again,” he wrote.
In the same post, Dr Bawumia acknowledged the indispensable role and sacrifices party members make to the success of the party, but expressed concern over the manner those at the local level are often neglected – a challenge he proposed to deal with.

“Having toured and campaigned in all constituencies, at least 6 times in each – for the past 5 general elections, spanning 18 years, I am well placed to understand the immense contributions our party faithful can make towards the revival and success of our party when they are better acknowledged, appreciated and rewarded.
“It is for this reason that I have proposed and prioritised a number of measures to ensure the recognition, inclusion and welfare of our members at all levels of the party, especially the local level,” the former vice president noted.
Among the vision is his proposal to institute a database for all members at all levels of the party, which will make it possible to digitally register them and be able to acknowledge their contributions.
Through the database system, members will also be able to register their welfare concerns, and a monitoring unit in all constituencies will regularly liaise with a central unit to ensure that concerns of members are addressed.
As part of his measures to deal with neglect and exclusion, Dr Bawumia has also proposed to decentralise appointments in his future government to ensure that at least 10 appointments will be reserved for each constituencies for the constituencies to propose qualified and deserving members, who will in turn also help the constituency.
Also to ensure inclusive development in all constituencies, Dr Bawumia has proposed to introduce a constituency-based national budget, which he explained, will ensure that no constituency is left behind in national development.
In his Facebook post, Dr Bawumia reiterated his commitment to these visions, which said “will effectively address the thorny issue of exclusion, and the perennial welfare concerns of our committed members.”
