Asante Kotoko interim coach, Prince Yaw Owusu has admitted that the remainder of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season will be a very difficult one for the Porcupine Warriors following their painful 0-1 home defeat to arch-rivals Hearts of Oak in Sunday’s Super Clash at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The Phobians snatched all three points courtesy of a brilliant header from defender Baba Adamu in the 14th minute into the contest, silencing the home crowd and ending Kotoko’s long unbeaten home streak in league fixtures against their bitter rivals.

Speaking in his post-match interview, Owusu expressed disappointment but called on his players to fight hard as they look to salvage their campaign.

“This defeat to Hearts makes our title ambition very difficult. Now we need to fight very hard before we can get the title,” he said.

The Porcupine Warriors are now sitting in fifth position on the league log with 35 points after 22 matches, nine adrift of league leaders Medeama SC.

The defeat has deepened the woes of Kotoko following the recent resignation of head coach Abdul Karim Zito after their exit from the MTN FA Cup and inconsistent league form.

Kotoko will now turn their attention to redemption as they prepare for a tricky away fixture against Young Apostles next on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at the Wenchi Sports Stadium.
