Late Ghanaian Highlife icon, Daddy Lumba

Popular Ghanaian actress Christiana Awuni has publicly criticised some personalities involved in the ongoing family dispute surrounding the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, describing their actions as selfish and damaging to his legacy.

Speaking in an interview on Aluta FM with Fiifi Pratt on February 12, 2026, Awuni said she had never met Daddy Lumba personally but deeply respects his music.

She expressed surprise at the controversy, noting that she only knew of Odo Broni and was unaware that Akosua Serwaa was his first wife.

“I haven’t met him before, but I love his music. I never knew of Akosua Serwaa being his first wife; I had only seen Odo Broni,” she said.

She added that she was disappointed with how the dispute had been handled, especially the family’s back-and-forth exchanges, stating that it has tarnished Lumba’s name in the public sphere.

“All I can say is I was so disappointed in the family for starting this mess and allowing people to talk about the man and drag his name into the mud,” she said.

The actress also singled out Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, head of the Lumba family, saying he should have intervened early to resolve the feud instead of watching it unfold.

Awuni took further aim at individuals she claimed are motivated by personal interests rather than genuine concern for Lumba’s legacy.

“The people involved in this are in it for their own selfish interest. As long as Lumba receives royalties for his music, they will never stop. It was not because of love for Lumba or love for his wives. They just want money,” she stated.

Meanwhile, Papa Shee has revealed that a ‘Celebration of Life’ event will take place on March 28 and 29, 2026 in Accra.
