Ghanaian rapper M.anifest has expressed frustration over how the media is handling conversations surrounding the recent attack on two innocent civilians inside a pharmacy located at Burma Camp. His concerns were directed at a post made by JoyPrime on social media, which highlighted remarks from security analyst Richard Kumadoe.

The musician argued that presenting such commentary as expert insight could influence the public to accept or excuse violent behaviour from military personnel. He stressed that the media must avoid amplifying perspectives that imply civilians should simply tolerate intimidation to stay safe.

The discussion arose after CCTV footage spread online showing a uniformed officer physically assaulting a pharmacy worker and a female customer. The video has intensified public criticism of the military’s treatment of civilians, especially in restricted zones.

Richard Kumadoe, speaking on the matter, pointed out that while the soldier’s behaviour was unacceptable, civilians must also be mindful of how they interact with officers in stressful moments. He argued that avoiding confrontation could prevent situations from spiralling into violence.

He referenced the young woman in the video, noting that even if she had every right to be at the facility due to her father’s senior role in the army, walking away might have been a safer option, with a formal complaint later serving as the appropriate response.

His commentary did not sit well with M.anifest, who believes that shifting some level of blame toward civilians encourages a sense of fear and leaves abusive behaviour unchecked. The rapper urged the media to ensure their platforms do not become outlets for narratives that undermine accountability within the armed forces.
