Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, standing trial for the alleged murder of Victoria Dapaah, popularly known as Maadwoa, erupted in court today, March 14, warning the prosecution’s lawyer not to refer to him by the name “Taakum.”
During cross-examination, the lawyer repeatedly addressed him as “Taakum,” a name Inspector Twumasi firmly rejected, insisting it was not his real identity.
The courtroom exchange was tense as the lawyer grilled Twumasi about his relationship with Maadwoa and the money he allegedly gave her before her death.
Twumasi admitted to giving her money but claimed it was a loan and not a gift. When pressed on whether he was upset about her failure to repay, he denied any frustration.
The prosecution further suggested that Twumasi had an amorous relationship with Maadwoa and killed her after she refused to pay back the money or continue the alleged affair. Twumasi, however, refuted these claims, insisting that he had nothing to do with her death.
The dramatic cross-examination saw Twumasi repeatedly claiming he could not recall how long he had known Maadwoa, but he admitted they had a cordial relationship. He denied gifting her or her sister anything, emphasizing that he only helped them when asked.
When the lawyer accused him of shooting Maadwoa six times, Twumasi flatly denied it, maintaining his innocence.
The case continues as more revelations unfold in the high-profile trial.
