Mahama Unveils Economic Revival Plan During Kumasi Tour

President John Dramani Mahama, during a tour of the Ashanti Region, has outlined new steps by his administration to revive Ghana’s economy and support regional development, especially in areas hit hard by recent financial turbulence.

Speaking to traditional leaders and residents in Kumasi as part of his thank-you visit, the President acknowledged the economic strain on Ashanti’s bustling business community. He highlighted how recent financial headwinds have disrupted commercial activity in a region known for its entrepreneurial drive.

Since taking office earlier this year, the Mahama-led government has adopted strict financial controls aimed at restoring stability. By enforcing tighter spending rules and focusing on disciplined fiscal management, the administration has seen early signs of recovery—including declining inflation and improvements in the local currency’s performance.

Officials believe these gains are helping to rebuild investor trust and encourage a more predictable business environment, which is seen as critical for spurring job creation and economic growth in Ashanti and beyond.

As part of his visit, the President also announced that the Transport Minister has been tasked with auditing the status of the Boankra Inland Port project in the Ejisu area. The results of the audit are expected to guide future actions on completing the long-delayed project.

Calling for collective effort, the President urged residents of the Ashanti Region to set aside political differences and work together to build a more inclusive and prosperous future.
