Mahama Ayariga is the Majority Leader in Parliament
The Majority Leader in Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, has announced that the government will complete 10 Agenda 111 hospital projects in 2026.
Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, the Bawku Central Member of Parliament, outlined a range of healthcare interventions the government plans to achieve by the end of end of 2026.
He disclosed that the construction of six new regional hospitals will begin in 2026, alongside the completion of the 10 Agenda 111 hospital projects.
Additionally, he noted that two district hospitals at Bole and Shama are set to commence construction in the year.
“Six new regional hospitals will commence construction this year, alongside two district hospitals at Bole and Shama, while ten (10) Agenda 111 hospital projects will be completed.

“Ongoing projects at La General, Effia Nkwantang, Komfo Anokye Maternity, and the Ashanti Regional Hospital will continue, while diagnostic and treatment centres will be established across major hospitals through Public-Private Partnerships,” he stated.
Ayariga further indicated that these initiatives, along with allocations of GH¢2.3 billion to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, otherwise known as Mahama Cares, and GH¢9 billion for NHIS claims, position 2026 as a year of significant progress in healthcare, education, social interventions, and economic opportunities for all Ghanaians.

The Agenda 111 hospital project, initiated by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo-led administration, aims to expand healthcare access across the country, ensuring that no district is left without a well-equipped hospital.
