NPP has retained Dr Bawumia as its flagbearer for the 2028 Election
The Majority Leader in Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, has criticised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) following the re-election of former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2028 Election.
Delivering a statement in Parliament on Tuesday, Ayariga said, “Ghanaians do not forget. This is not a new beginning. It is a repackaging of the same administration. The same economic ideas and the same record that pushed this nation to the edge.
“You cannot rewrite recent history. And you cannot rebrand responsibility away. Ghanaians will judge not by new faces or fine words, but by lived experience, credibility and results.”

He added that although he wore white to mark Dr Bawumia’s re-election, he remains optimistic that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) would win the 2028 elections.
“I am wearing white to join the NPP in the chamber to celebrate, because the Bawumia that I know, the NDC will beat him any day,” Ayariga said.
