A teenager in Twifo Bonsaho has given birth to a legless baby girl and they have been abandoned by the father of the child called Paa Kwasi.
Despite receiving routine prenatal care, the baby’s birth defect was not discovered until after delivery. She gave birth at home with the assistance of a midwife in the ninth month.
Because of this, the eighteen-year-old Grace has been extremely distressed and despondent, and she has made multiple attempts to murder the child.
She has also been advised to kill the baby by the mother of the child’s father, and she actually would have done so if her parents had not intervened and repeatedly stopped her.
The stigma and rumors in the community about her daughter’s deformity have gotten out of control.
Opanin Emmanuel Lartey, Grace’s father, is currently pleading with NGOs, people, the government, and religious organizations to step forward and assist his daughter and grandchild. He begs everyone who has a heart to support them in getting through this trying time and making sure the baby survives and is okay.
The family’s situation is dire, and they need immediate assistance. Grace’s mental health is deteriorating, and her baby’s future hangs in the balance.
